DATES: July 15 - July 24 2013
LOCATION & THEME: The 2013 National Scout Jamboree will be at The Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reservation in, West Virginia.
ACTIVITIES:Program feature will reflect the skills of Scouting, the nation's heritage, physical fitness, conservation, and the spirit of brotherhood. Daily activities will offer fun and challenge. Religious services will provide time for reflection. A cavalcade of highlight events will further depict the rich heritage of Scouting. Scouts will practice and demonstrate skills such as archery, orienteering, obstacle course, shotgun shooting, boating, canoeing and hunter safety, as well as take part in traditional handicapped awareness trail, competitive events, merit badge midway, and arts and science fair. Participants also will meet together in troop, intertroop, and subcamp campfires.
FEE INCLUDES: The Jamboree fee of $1,450 covers transportation, tours, meals, lodging, patrol and troop equipment, as well as insurance and most admission fees. Your fee also covers the training camp that you will attend before the Jamboree. Additional expenses will include your personal equipment, uniforms, and spending money for souvenirs, etc.
TRAVEL PLANS: We will be traveling by bus to and from the Jamboree site. Planning is underway for possible side trips on the way.
ORGANIZATION: The Great Sauk Trail Council / Southwest Michigan Contingent is expected to consist of five troops consisting of 36 Scouts and 4 Adult Leaders. Scouts will be a member of a patrol within one of the troops. The Jamboree is open to all Boy Scouts who are qualified and approved on a first-come basis. After our troops have been filled, a stand-by list of alternates will be maintained.. NEW - There will also be a Council Venturing Contingent consisting of at least one, possibly more crews of 8 Crew Members and 2 Adult Leaders. The Jamboree is open to all Venturing members who are qualified and approved on a first-come basis. After our crews have been filled, a stand-by list of alternates will be maintained.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Each Scout Participant must: • Must have a current BSA membership with a Boy Scout Troop or Varsity Scout team. • Must be at least First Class Scouts. • Must be at least 12 years of age by the first day of the jamboree, or an 11 year old that has graduated the 6th grade, but has not reached their 18th birthday by the last day of the jamboree. • Be approved by their local unit leader. • Participate in a pre-jamboree training experience. • Have filed a Jamboree Personal Health & Medical record with the council jamboree committee before the pre-jamboree training. • Submit all registration fees per the Great Sauk Trail Council payment schedule. • Be approved by the local council jamboree committee
Each Venturing Participant must: • Must have a current BSA membership with a Venturing Crew. • Must have graduated the 8th grade or be at least 14 years of age by the first day of the jamboree, but have not reached their 21st birthday by the last day of the Jamboree. • Be approved by their local unit leader. • Participate in a pre-jamboree training experience. • Have filed a Jamboree Personal Health & Medical record with the council jamboree committee before the pre-jamboree training. • Submit all registration fees per the Great Sauk Trail Council payment schedule. • Be approved by the local council jamboree committee

FUNDRAISING: The Great Sauk Trail Council Jamboree Committee offers fundraisers to help participants and their families pay for this once in a lifetime experience. TOTAL COST: $1,450.00
PAYMENT SCHEDULE: 2 payment plans available: $150 due with application, 5 payments of $260 - Feb 2012, May 2012, Aug 2012, Nov 2012, Feb 2013 $150 due with application, 13 payments of $100 via automatic charge to credit card or checking account, starting Feb 2012.
REFUND POLICY:If you sign up for the Jamboree and then find that you cannot attend, you will receive a refund from the Council ONLY if there is an alternate to take your place. In the event that you are not approved by the Council for participation at the Jamboree, all fees paid by you will be fully refunded. In the event your approval is revoked due to not continuing to meet the qualifications, or conduct unbecoming of a Scout, a partial refund will be made. In the event that there is not an alternate, a partial refund will be made. This includes the fees you have paid to date, LESS any expenses related to contractual agreements made on your behalf.
